Learning to play music isn’t just for the sake of being a musician, as neuro-music educator Dr Anita Collins says, “…every child should study it so their cognitive connectivity is as fantastic as we can possibly get it.” The key though is not just listening to music, but active experience with instrument learning.
To engage kids in their learning, my piano lessons foster an enjoyment of music. I’ve always found that music enjoyment leads to productive lessons and practice at home.
I offer piano lessons for:
Beginner Piano Kids
Kids can start learning music at any age (even pre-natal!). I recommend private piano lessons for kids any age above 4 years old.
Intermediate Piano Kids
Private piano lessons are great for kids who have been learning group or school music and are keen to further their playing. I can guide students to:
Therefore I curate my lessons to the individual, to bring out your child’s unique skills, creativity and foster their love of music.
Learning to play their fave songs, along with games, story-telling and performances, each lesson I teach your child piano technique, music theory, aural training, note reading and music appreciation.
This will give kids a well-rounded foundation into music, whether they choose to play piano for leisure or grades.
Student choose their own music to learn alongside the core lesson work. This makes practice waaay more fun than playing Twinkle Twinkle again and again.
In between lessons, I encourage regular playing! The more the merrier, but a great starting point is 5-10 mins a day, 4-days a week!
To aid active practice and playing, I highly encourage parents to sit in during the piano lessons, to understand and participate in your child’s progress.
Pay-per-lesson means you can get started with no stressful upfront term costs. I just ask all students to keep consistent weekly attendance through the term, as a weekly routine is most effective for progress.
No piano? No worries. The first step is to book a time for the first lesson, and if your child likes their piano lessons with me, I’ll help you work it out from there.
